The Giants struck first, scoring 2 in the top of the 3rd, but the Bengals rallied for 4 in the bottom half of the inning. The lead didn't last long, as Bengals starter fell victim to some pour defense, and allowed a 4-run rally by the Giants. Again, the Bengals were able to pull out a 3-run rally against Giants starter Mike Gren, who also had some shaky defense. The game remained this way until Graham Magee hit a solo shot to tie it up. The Bengals had runners on second and third in the bottom of the 7th, but could not cash.

Giants starter Matt Klas was stellar as he held the Bengals to 3 hits all game. Not only did he keep the Bengals off the board, he also hit a 2-run shot to left field, which was all the run support he needed. Bengals starter Chuck Vleeshouwer piutched a solid game, but the Bengals could not get any timely hitting as they stranded 9.
